Design Assistant
We are looking for a self-starter, with great attention to detail, who is extremely driven, organized, responsive, well spoken and written.
Ideal candidate must be passionate about all things design and have a can-do attitude while familiar with the processes and procedures required to successfully execute a full residential build. Has a keen design alignment with the CIËN aesthetic and design vision.
Specific Duties:
AutoCAD or similar layout/rendering software work: drafting and creating floorplans / elevations / as-built drawings to assist with 2D project design and 3D project renderings
Handle formatting all client presentations and Mood boards: from initial design sketches, color themes and ideas based on client requirements and space availability
Continuous market research: vendors, suppliers, themes, concept, present new products or vendors to company management. Ongoing project research: era, architecture, mood boards
Management of all project samples: assist Principal designer with sourcing and selecting materials, F.F & E. required to communicate concept to a client
Continuous management of project
Manage all measurements and dimensions of active client properties to provide single point of reference for on-site logistics, furniture selections, etc.
Work directly with project assistant to confirm approved client selections and timely integration into client presentations and internal floorplans
Lead and maintain all project correspondence: on-site record keeping, walkthrough notes, client presentation notes, including integration with internal team, client and external teams as needed
Lead and maintain all project schedules (paint/lighting/etc.) and timelines, including integration with internal team, client and external teams as needed
Ongoing responsibility for in-house pickups and deliveries
Quality assurance for any local suppliers or vendors: specification checks, quality assurance, third party meetups
General Duties:
Perform a variety of administrative, clerical, and creative duties under the supervision of company principal
As needed, visit job sites with company principal to analyze space availability, design needs and defining purpose of the space
As needed, attend client meetings to understand and communicate project design and logistic needs; log and maintain all meeting correspondence/agendas/follow up and recap communication
As needed, assist with developing detailed briefs, P.O’s and schedules for vendors, third-party suppliers and on-site workers and supervisors, including ongoing correspondence with project assistant to verify accuracy and budgets/cost estimates
As needed, coordinate and supervise work progress, installations and deliveries
Skills / Requirements:
Requirements:
• Proven working experience (minimum 2-3 years) in interior design (consultations, renovations, space planning and new constructions)
• Excellent portfolio of previous work and professional references
• Knowledge of the to-the-trade purchasing, vendors, and showrooms
• Expertise in layout, color selection, lighting, finishes specification, custom furniture, and all installations
• Proficient in Sketchup; AutoCAD, 3D Max, Illustrator are pluses
• Proficient in digital business tools commonly used in the industry
• Passion for architecture and quality materials
• Communication and presentation skills, including ability to multitask and work with different personalities while maintaining sense of professionalism; includes communicating regularly with clients, vendors, contractors, and architects
• Project management and organization skills,
• Reliable transportation (driver’s license, valid insurance, and car) Must have own vehicle and be available to travel to job sites in Los Angeles weekdays
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit and talk and hear, as well as reach with hands and arms. The individual is frequently required to stand, walk and occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The duties include lifting and carrying or moving items up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close and distant vision and ability to adjust focus. The individual may be required to drive a personal vehicle or ride in a vehicle to meetings, client appointments, etc. This individual must be comfortable flying when air travel is required.
Compensation:
• Position is paid an hourly rate
• Hourly rate commensurate with experience
• Mileage reimbursement for all office and client travel
